Jennifer has a DEC in Commerce (1993) and a DEC in Electronics Technology (2000) from CEGEP Heritage College in Hull. She was a model in a previous life, and a supervisor/salesclerk at Wallack’s Art and Drafting Supplies (Ottawa) from 1994 through 2001. Currently she works as a Civil Servant.
Before finishing her second diploma, Jennifer joined James Moran, the then new Director of Ottawa’s Tree Reading Series. From May 2000 to December 2005, she held the positions of Treasurer and Webmaster for the Series. She also volunteered with the Ottawa International Writers Festival for several years during that time.
Giving back to the community she came from, Jennifer sat on the Heritage College Board of Governors from 2001-2004, and was the Board’s Chairperson from 2001-2002. Some of her duties for the Board included sitting on the College’s Executive Committee, participating on the Selection Committee for the construction of the Continuing Education and Gymnasium Project, and as the Chair for the Director General’s Evaluation and Mandate Renewal Committees. She was also selected as a participant in a strategic planning session for the College.
Jennifer began writing poetry in January 2005 after many years of listening and absorbing the work of writers from around the world. She started screenwriting in November 2005, and is currently working on a local indie film (as a Production Designer and Location Scout), being produced as a collaboration between IFCO and Ottawa's seventh::sense::studios. She is working on her first feature length screenplay and has several ideas for short films and television in development.
